Born 15 years ago on Summit Ave, Capitol Hill s Analog Coffee is expanding with an ambitious new location on the shores of Lake Union that will have the tiny coffee provider filling a space left empty by Seattle s coffee giant. City signage permits reveal the coffee shop is preparing to open in the former Starbucks along Westlake Ave N. The cafe is part of the AGC Building and Marina that rises above the water on the westside of the lake. The shuttered Starbucks previously occupied a ground-level, drive-through-capable space adjacent to the 10-story office tower. Fueling drivers would be an interesting shift for Analog. CHS reported here in 2021 on the cafe s first ten years on Summit Ave. Founders Danny Hanlon and Tim Hayden once vowed that the original cafe was the only coffee shop they d ever open. Times change. Meanwhile, a steady drip of new ventures continues to fill retail spaces left behind by Starbucks continuing to reduce its nationwide retail footprint including stores in it
